Why make a collection of works about the Meninas (Las Meninas), a painting of the Spanish painter Diego Velasquez (1656)? In my journey to achieve a version of Las Meninas I created a silhouette of the modern Menina figure and added colorful paint and textures to the canvas. My works are a look into representations of concrete ages and situations that can only be realized in painting.The challenge lies in exploring a balance of elements on the canvas. I primarily use oil paint, pastels, acrylic and graphite. The suggestive form also includes organic elements that bring a tridimensional depth into the works.
